The Kwanzaa 365 Calendar BLACK BOOK Business Registration
In the spirit of Ujamaa (Cooperative Economic), Touray Friends and Family is in the process of creating a 2022 Kwanzaa Calendar. The calendar will serve several purposes and be
available for purchase and sale by NOV 24th, 2021. Our goal is to get this calendar/directory in the hands of every Black family and business in our community. We believe that the only way to be truly empowered is to be self-sufficient. While a calendar may seem like a simple venture, it is not only a pictorial celebration of this community celebration thus far, but
this calendar will also promote Black businesses in our community through a directory listing; teach the Kwanzaa principles to further strengthen our community and sustain our Kwanzaa celebration as a funding vehicle for this celebration that we love—not from outside funding sources, but through our own means and efforts. We have a vision of self-sufficiency for our families and communities. Utilizing this calendar/directory, on a daily basis and encouraging other business members to do the same, will help to propel us toward that goal. We hope that you will join us in our efforts.
The Kwanzaa 365 Calendar is:
1. A BLACK BUSINESS DIRECTORY: We believe that practicing group economics is vital to
strengthening the Black community. This calendar will include listings of Black owned and operated businesses that have shown a commitment to the strengthening of the Black community. The objective is to encourage members of our community to BUY BLACK FIRST---Starting with businesses listed in the calendar’s directory.
2. A PRACTICAL KWANZAA RESOURCE and a Visual Celebration: This calendar will include
information pertaining to the celebration of Kwanzaa, as well as practical suggestions as to
how the 7 principles of Kwanzaa can be applied throughout the year to build, maintain and
strengthen our families and our community. Photos from past Kwanzaa Celebrations will also
be included as part of the presentation.
3. A FUNDING SOURCE: for the Annual Touray Friends and Family Kwanzaa Celebration. This
celebration is one that our community looks forward to every year. December 2022 will mark
the 7th annual event! This event has been funded by The Touray family with resource contributions from friends and family members. Funds from the sales of this calendar will help to offset the cost of this event. For the upcoming year, we hope to extend the length of the celebration from 4 hours to 8 hours with staggered events and simultaneous workshops and sessions. The objective is also to use a Black catering company for the Karamu feast. We hope you will join us in this effort.
